The Hemshin people are a subethnic
group of Armenians. Their self-designations are Homshetsi, Hemshinli.
Language
The Hemshin people speak a dialect
of the Turkish language (Hemshinche). This is the part of the Hemshin people
most subjected to Turkization.
Dispersion
The majority of them live in the
Krasnodar territory, with the most compact settlement in the Apsheron and
Belorechensky districts, as well as in the Kamensky district of the Rostov
region and the Gribanovsky district of the Voronezh region.
Traditional occupations
The Turkish Hemshins grow corn and tea, breed
cattle and keep bees. The Russian Hemshins are also occupied in
agriculture, mostly in sheep breeding.
