Lazi
The Laz are a people of the Megrelian-Zan (Colchian) group of the Kartvelian language family. They are viewed as a subethnic group of the Georgian people.
Language
The Laz people speak the Laz language related to the Megrelian language, together with which it belongs to the Megrelian-Zan (Megrelian-Chan) language group of the Kartvelian language family, separate from the Georgian language. There are three distinct Laz dialects, Xop (with Cxal subdialect), Viz-Arkab dialect and Latin dialect (with Artasen and Bulep subdialects).
