Central Asian Romani is a
conventional term to designate the ethnic groups Lyuli (one of the eastern
branches of the Romani, widespread in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan),
Parya, Kavol, Chistoni and Sogutarosh, living mostly in Tajikistan and
Uzbekistan.
Traditional clothes
The traditional male and female clothes had almost no difference compared to the
Tajik and Uzbek clothes, but was more vivid; also, the Central Asian Romani
women never wore purdah, and the Karshin and Shakhrisyabz Romani women also
wore the durra turbans. The Shakhrisyabz, Karshin and Ghissar Romani had
a custom of tattooing (three points on the forehead and a hand, sometimes the
cheeks).
