Izhevsk
Izhevsk is a large industrial, commercial, scientific, educational and cultural center of the Volga region and the Urals, the capital of the Udmurt Republic. Already in the first months of the Great Patriotic War, having hosted dozens of evacuated leading enterprises of the country, Izhevsk became the main supplier of small arms for the Red Army. One small town in 1941-1945 produced more weapons than the whole Germany and this labor feat is unprecedented in the world history. It is known that during the war the Izhevsk gunsmiths gave the front more than 11.145 million rifles and carbines, 7130 air cannons, 213 440 machine guns, 131 310 anti-tank rifles, 96 150 TT pistols.
