Kazan
Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. From the first days of the Great Patriotic War, all the resources of Kazan and the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic were redirected to the needs of the front. During this period, 139 enterprises of the city were rebuilt in a military manner. More than 70 production facilities were evacuated to Kazan from various regions of the country. During the war the city produced more than 600 types of weapons, ammunition and equipment for the front. Every day, Kazan enterprises produced products that would be enough to dress a regiment and shoe a division. For selfless labor in the rear more than 75 thousand Kazan citizens were awarded orders and medals, 10 people were awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. In addition, 43 thousand citizens of Kazan were awarded the honorary title of "Home Front Worker".
