Novosibirsk
Novosibirsk is the third most populous city in Russia. The administrative center of the Siberian Federal District and the Novosibirsk Region. During the Great Patriotic War, in addition to its own enterprises, dozens of factories, institutes and cultural institutions evacuated from the western part of the USSR worked in Novosibirsk. In addition, 25 evacuation hospitals were deployed in the city. Novosibirsk became a powerful center for the production and delivery of shells, mines, bombs, and fighter aircraft to the front. Almost every second “Yak”-class fighter was produced at the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant. The enterprises of the city were marked with the high awards of the Soviet government, the rolling Red Banners of the State Defense Committee and orders of the USSR. The workers of these enterprises were awarded with the state awards and honorary titles of the USSR for their services to the country.
