Tyumen
Tyumen is the administrative center of the Tyumen region in Russia. During the Great Patriotic War, 30 institutions and industrial enterprises from Central Russia and Ukraine were evacuated to Tyumen. The city made shells, mortars, army motorcycles and batteries, electrical equipment for cars and tanks, medicines, shoes, uniforms. In 1941, the O. Antonov experimental design bureau was evacuated to Tyumen; it produced noiseless gliders intended for reconnaissance and dropping partisans into the rear of the enemy. At the same time, Antonov dealt with the i8ssue of creating the "Winged Tank" - the original glider designed to transport the light tank, but this unusual project never reached mass production. Torpedo boats that took part in the hostilities were also built in Tyumen.
