Vorkuta
Vorkuta is the city in the Komi Republic. During the years of the Great Patriotic War, Vorkuta gave more than 6.5 million tons of coal to the front, industry and the population. 29 new mines were laid, 12 of which were put into operation. 377 workers of “Vorkutstroy” plant were awarded orders and medals for these feats, four enterprises of the city were presented with the challenge Red Banners of the State Defense Committee during the war years.
