Stupino is the city in the Moscow region. During the Great Patriotic War, 15 thousand inhabitants of the city and the district participated in battles; 14 thousand were awarded orders and medals for military merit and valiant labor. Stupino Metallurgical Plant has become one of the centers of aviation metallurgy. In 1941-1945, almost all bomber, transport, assault and fighter aircraft were equipped with propellers produced by the collective of this plant. The blacksmith workshop produced non-ferrous and steel forgings and stampings for military aircraft. Of the total volume of rolled aluminum for aircraft cladding produced in the country, 70% fell on the Stupino plant. In 1941, workshop No. 48, commissioned by the military, produced "hedgehogs" and "gouges", which went to the construction of barrage lines against tank and motorized enemy strike groups. During the war, the crankshaft was manufactured at the plant to restore the power plant destroyed by the Germans in Orel. During the war years, 126 echelons with products to the front came out from the workshops of the SMP.
