Chita
Chita is the administrative center of the Trans-Baikal Territory. There were no military operations in the city, but from the first day of the war, citizans of Chita lived under the slogan "Everything for the front, everything for victory." Collecting of warm clothes and food for the Red Army soldiers was organized in the city, tank columns "Komsomolets of Transbaikalia" and "Collective Farmer of Transbaikalia" were built at the expense of the Transbaikalians. Machine-building plant No. 117 produced parts for aviation, and the locomotive repair plant made grenades and company machine guns. There were also evacuation hospitals in Chita during the war, which received and treated wounded soldiers.
