Time in Russia is regulated by the Federal Law "On Amendments to
the Federal Law ‘On the Calculation of Time", according to which, since
October 26, 2014, 11 time zones have been established. The territory of Russia
in longitude has an extent of 171° 22 ', or about 11.4 hours. According to the
law, Moscow time serves as the starting point for the calculation of local time
in the time zones and corresponds to the third time zone in the national time
scale of the Russian Federation UTC (SU) +3. Eleven time zones correspond to
the international numbering of time zones from the 2nd to the 12th inclusive.
The boundaries of the time zones pass along the boundaries of the subjects of
the Russian Federation; each entity is included in one time zone, except for
Yakutia, because that territory is located in three time zones: MSC+6, MSC+7,
MSC+8.
